PPP links up some smooth turns and the snow was never better.

I took the bus up to Le Tour and bought a half day liftpass. Three lifts took me to the lifts high point. I continued booting up the ridge for another 10 minutes, traversed on skis and finaly booting up to the "varde". It was mighty tempting to ski down the colouire on the other side, but being alone and ending up in Swisserland without my passport was probably not a good idea.

Waking up Thursday morning was a drag - The Vito batteries were flat. I had run the heater to much and now the van would't start. I asked around for help, but no luck. So I went skiing, and worrie later.

The view from the ridge above Col du Plan. After a steep and iced entrance, we had waist deep snow. It was a bit tracked, but still good. Learned a few glacier skiing skils from HK, and had of cause to pay penalty for my mistake :-)

After a quick lunch in Chamonix, we took the gondol up to Aquille Midi. Last time I was here we had zero visibility, today was perfect.

It started to snow last evening and it snowed most of the night. We scratched our touring plans and took the lift up at Grand Montets. The Central coluire next to Pas du Chevre gave us 30 cm of the lightest powder.

The sun is setting on the mountain in Val Thorens. This day is going in to history as the best ski day ever :-) Well part from Valdez, AK!

Another good powder day. We have been roaming the whole mountain, and ended up the same place as yesterday.
The beer is excellent at Tango Bar.
We are hoping for a blue bird day tomorrow.

Well into the first powder run of the day. Knee deep of the best stuff in the world.

It is snowing in Val Thorens. The drive up here last night were more than exciting, with strong wind and full on snowstorm. With 3 m visability I were in luck to have the GPS to tell me when the road was straight and when to turn.
I have moved in with Perry in a 2 room studio, and we woke up to blasts from the mountain this morning.
You know it's gonna be a good day skiing :-)

Geir have been 20 days in the French hospital, and have spotted some new lines. He will probably be sent home sometime soon.

After lunch in Chamonix, Linus and Jimmy opted for calling it a day. Hanne Kajsa and I took the bus back to Grand Montet for a couple more runs.

After my arrival at 10am, yesterday, I got a hour of sleep in before I hit the slopes. I took the Grand Montet gondol up to 2800 m. The visual was not the best with the fog coming and going, but the fresh snow was all good.
Today I meet with Hanna Kajsa, Linus and Jimmy. Linus and Jimmy are two mountain guides, now living in Chamonix, and they showed us a great run from GM, Pas du Chevre (sorry for my spelling). It had super snow and didn't have to much traffic. It took us all the way back to Chamonix Sud.

979 down 600 to go! Closing in on Frankfurt and time to get some gas and maybe some munchis.

Roadtrip Alp 2009

It is a pity leaving Norway with all this snow coming. Well, the forecast is looking good for the Alps as well. One and a half hour in to the drive, there is a one hour wait for Superspeed. Eta Denmark is 4.30pm.
Annelin injured her knee, so I'm doing the drive by my self. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
